Shake Up founder Jamie Fahrner grew up in Indiana right next to the Lake County Fair, where the sounds of cheering crowds and buzzing rides filled her childhood summers. Known as the “chip girl” at her family’s barbecue stand at the county fair, Jamie mastered the art of tossing snacks to fairgoers with pinpoint accuracy.

This vibrant fair and festival culture, along with the iconic lemon shake-up—a simple, refreshing mix of lemon, sugar, ice, and water—left a lasting impression. Those summer days, filled with joy and community, became synonymous with the taste of lemon shake-ups, which she never outgrew.

As an adult, Jamie, alongside her husband Dan, ventured into the world of craft distilling. In 2022, thanks to a twist of fate, they launched Hi & Mighty Distillery at the heart of the Indiana State Fair. Drawing inspiration from her cherished memories, Jamie crafted Shake Up: a spirited twist on the lemon shake-up she loved as a child.
